Late afternoon Jessica picked us up to take us to the airport for our upcoming extended trip. Check-in was easy and we hung out at the lounge before boarding our KLM flight to Amsterdam.

and good food. Mary's dinner. She opted for the soup and the cheese course. No entree or dessert today. Eating too much makes it hard to sleep.
Mary slept a bit on the plane...Paul not so much.

The luggage came off quickly and we headed for a taxi.
The drive into Amsterdam didn’t seem long but it did take a bit to get to our hotel…it’s not in the center of town but on a island. And one of the bridges to the island is closed for the sail festival. The interior of the hotel is pretty spectacular.

We had dinner in the lounge tonight on the top floor of the hotel. The hotel is Hotel Jakarta and the food in the lounge has a definite Indonesian flair to it. But it was good.
There was a lovely sunset this evening from the lounge.
We have a great view of the water from our balcony. Perhaps we will be doing boat watching from the balcony.
